Food Glorious Food....!

Oh boy, have I been remiss in my blogging...and it's all still about food. Let me start by saying that it has been an interesting culinary journey since my last entry.
OK I admit that I am a total sugar addict and the Candida diet was really difficult. I tried to maintain that style of eating after the initial two weeks but I found myself eating more than usual - not good. Then I moved on to calorie counting and that worked quite well - I used www.dailyplate.com to calculate all my calories and restricted myself to 900 a day. I was losing about 2 pounds a week for a while. Yay! Naturally, I had to have a treat once in a while, so the weight loss stabilized. My body likes a certain weight and tends to stay there - I've been pretty much the same weight since I was 15. I can still fit into my high school uniform and prom dress :)
So now I have adopted another new eating habit. (I don't like to "diet" or follow a diet or feel like I'm on a diet...too restrictive and will have me running to a cupcake for relief) I am now avoiding dairy, flour and grains about 98% of the time and I feel great! If I didn't rely so heavily on hard-boiled eggs for protein, I would even consider going vegan. But for now, this works well for me.
If you're interested in some great vegan recipes, check out my niece Cassie Wanda's blog - www.vegodactyl.blogspot.com.
Since Cassie is my monthly Disneyland buddy, it's quite an adventure finding food that fits into our current eating plans, but we usually find something that works. And of course, we allow ourselves a treat once in a while...my new favorite is the Matterhorn Macaroon...OMG YUM! Helloooo....take a look!

I have even exchanged my weekend cupcake splurge for my new flourless treat - Cashewtopia (dairy-free, gluten free, organic gelato) with Nocciolata Organic Hazelnut Spread (think healthier Nutella). Another OMG YUM! Check them out - too decadent for words!
Now that I'm settled in a satisfactory eating regimen, I can move on to other topics here...because there's more to life than food...isn't there?
Until next time, (which won't be so long, I promise) stay happy, healthy and peaceful!
